Day 1 on our Trip to Japan

So even though this wasn't "officially" part of Alyssa's actual mission, the next few posts are going to be about the time we spent together in Japan.  We still witnessed miracles, visited with investigators, new converts and members, and did missionary work.  It was a transitioning time for Pickering Shimai and we were so blessed to witness it.

So our for our first full day in Japan we were basically on our own in a foreign country.  We couldn't read the signs or understand the language and it was an adventure.  It all started with trying to figure out what we could buy to eat.    Roger was especially intrigued by all of the various drinks in the vending machine which eventually lead to a quest to try them all.  We were just so fascinated by everything and we kept saying "This is so Japaneseee", with no offense intended.  We were just in awe and definitely the minority.

Eventually, we just jumped right in.  We somehow purchased train tickets without being able to read the map and ended up in a cool place called "Shinsaibashi".  It didn't take us long to figure out that fans were our best friends.  It was so hot and humid.  We explored and tried different foods and even ended up with Takoyaki (fried pancake balls with octopus) an Osaka delicacy.  We were just so proud of ourselves for figuring stuff out and later finding our way to the mission home.  Such a joy.
